FitnessServicePR has specialized in providing service and maintenance for fitness equipment for nearly 15 years. Our services have focused on Service/Preventive Maintenance contracts for exercise equipment located in corporate/factory employee gyms, hotels, condominiums and urbanization clubhouses/fitness centers. Seven years ago we added service and repair for fitness equipment located in residences.
As the exclusive contractor for ICON Health & Fitness in Puerto Rico, we provide factory-backed warranty service, repair and maintenance in-home throughout Puerto Rico for ICON’s various equipment brands, including: NordicTrack, Pro-Form and FreeMotion.
We are authorized distributors for several fitness equipment manufacturers, providing cardiovascular, weight training, specialized gym flooring, sauna rooms & steam-room boilers.
Owner Profile: Eric Bishop is a native of Ohio, coming to Puerto Rico on a two-year contract to teach school many years ago. He had previously served for three years in the Peace Corps as a Volunteer to Ecuador upon graduation from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. He is married with Margaret Hill, with stepchildren Hunter, Michael and Carla – and numerous grandchildren. Bishop’s background and participation in sports, fitness and the distribution and service of exercise equipment is extensive. In the early stages of the fitness movement he was instrumental in bringing one of the first Universal Gym multi-station weight machines to Puerto Rico. He served as General Manager or Service Manager for over 15 years with the two most prominent local distributors of fitness/sports equipment. Perceiving a need for a business that is focused on service, Bishop opened FitnessServicePR in 2005. At a younger age Eric won many honors while participating in football, basketball, track & field and wrestling. Bishop was instrumental in the founding of the Federación de Lucha Olímpica de Puerto Rico in the ’70’s as well as the Asociación de Jueces/Arbitros de Lucha Olímpica de P.R. Later, as an Olympic wrestling team coach and referee/judge, he participated in several Olympics, Pan American Games and World Championships. His current preferred physical activities are sailing, fitness workouts and gardening.
The TEAM: Joining Bishop on the technical side of the business is Head Technician José “Cheo” Hernandez. Customers frequently laud José’s technical expertise and the respectful, personable service he provides.
